Most hackathons end at the demo. This one is built to continue.

The GTransformer AI Buildathon 2026 is a 3-day hybrid buildathon (in person in Milpitas, Bay Area + online) for builders who want to point AI at problems that matter — and leave with a working prototype, not just a pitch deck.

North star: AI for human flourishing. Every project should be able to answer one question: who does this measurably help, and how?

Themes

  • Wellbeing — Help people understand, protect and improve their mental and emotional wellbeing before problems become crises: emotional awareness, burnout, access to care, early warning.
  • Connection — Move people from isolation or thin digital interaction toward meaningful, safe human connection: belonging, matching, community, and the reason to actually meet.
  • Learning & Opportunity — Expand access to education, skills and economic mobility: AI tutors, learning-gap detection, teacher copilots, career pathways, job matching, financial literacy.
  • Responsible AI — a requirement across every project, not a separate track. Every team addresses safety, privacy, bias, accessibility, transparency, and potential unintended harm.

Schedule (Pacific Time)

  • Fri, Nov 13, 6–8 PM — Kickoff & team formation
  • Sat, Nov 14, 9 AM–5 PM — Build day with mentor office hours
  • Sun, Nov 15, 9 AM–5 PM — Demos, expert feedback & next steps

Who should join: students, builders, engineers, designers, PMs, researchers, founders and domain experts. No team? No problem — teams form at kickoff.

Requirements

What to Build

Build a working prototype that points AI at a problem that matters — something able to answer one question: who does this measurably help, and how? Pick one of the buildathon themes: Wellbeing, Connection, or Learning & Opportunity. Responsible AI (safety, privacy, bias, accessibility, transparency) is a requirement across every project, not a separate track.

What to Submit

  • Project name and description naming your theme and answering "who does this measurably help, and how?"
  • Link to your code repository
  • Demo video or live demo link
  • "Built with" — the tools, models, and APIs you used
  • A short Responsible AI note covering safety, privacy, bias, accessibility, transparency, and potential unintended harm
